In plain terms: this site earns affiliate commissions. This disclosure is provided in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance on endorsements and testimonials (16 CFR Part 255).

What that means

Many of the links on this site — including the buttons on review pages that take you to a product's official website — are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, the merchant pays us a commission.

You never pay more because of it. The price you see is the price you would pay arriving at that page any other way. The commission comes out of the merchant's margin, not your pocket.

Why we use them

Affiliate commissions are what pay for this site. The alternative models are a paywall or selling coverage to the companies we review, and we consider both worse for the reader.

What it does not mean

• It does not mean we recommend everything we link to. We publish reviews that tell readers not to buy, and those pages carry affiliate links too.
• It does not mean merchants approve our content. No company reviews a draft before publication or has the right to change a score afterwards.
• It does not change our ratings. The commission structure is not a factor in how a product is scored.

Third-party programs

We participate in affiliate programs operated by third-party retailers and networks. Those companies set their own terms, pricing and refund policies. Any purchase you make is a transaction between you and that merchant — we are not the seller, we do not process payments, and we do not ship products.

If you have a problem with an order, a refund or a subscription charge, contact the merchant directly. We are happy to point you in the right direction, but we cannot access your order.
